The
tradition and design philosophy of Simrad is simple: Listen to the

philosophy has given the Simrad autopilots a reputation as second
to none, also confirmed by a number of awards.
AP25
AP25 is
the top of the range model with a 5" high resolution matrix LCD.
The use of graphics presents you with a wealth of information, and
saves you the cost of an additional instrument to present speed,
depth, wind and GPS data. Particular attention has been paid to
offer simple and intuitive operation. Dedicated mode keys and well
arranged menus for setup and information makes it easy to use.
AP26
AP26 is
the compact model for vessels with limited console space. It
contains the same steering software and operational
characteristics as the AP25. The AP26 can be used as a standalone
control unit or as a second station.
AP27
AP27 is an
ergonomic, handheld model with 23ft. (7m) cable. Operational
capability and software is identical to that of the AP26. Used as
a standalone control or as a second station, the AP27 offers full
control in the cockpit or on the flybridge.
Depth Contour Tracking DCT
With a
depth sounder or fish finder connected, use the autopilot to
follow a ledge. You may even let the autopilot steer in a
controlled S-pattern while following the ledge. Set the depth you
want to follow and let the autopilot take care of the steering,
allowing you to concentrate on the fishing and a better catch.
No
Drift Mode
Get where
you want to go. No need to calculate for offsetting currents and
winds. With your GPS navigator on, just aim at your destination
point and activate the NoDrift mode. It saves you from selecting
waypoints on the GPS and provides easy and safe navigation.
When in
Auto (compass) mode you can change course at any time. The display
will show the set course to steer, the actual heading and the
X-track error.
Integration with the Volvo IPS
Simrad has
in close cooperation with Volvo Penta developed a new autopilot
computer and new software algorithms for boats that have the
revolutionary Volvo Penta Inboard Performance System installed.
The autopilot system comprises only three units and is very easy
to install. Only a single cable is needed to integrate with the
Volvo system. When accelerating, at high speed or in sharp turns,
the Simrad autopilot has control and makes it a smooth ride at any
time.
Thruster Control
With the
optional TI25 Thruster Interface unit you can enjoy the features
and benefits of having the autopilot control the bow thruster.
Maintain your course at very low speed, keep the bow into the wind
when stationary without having to drop the anchor and use the
autopilot as a docking aid. The thruster symbol verifies that a
thruster interface is connected. With the thruster control enabled
a boat symbol appears and shows the direction the boat is turning.
Turn Pattern Steering
The
autopilots can steer to a selection of different turn patterns
that are made available at your own choice. These are useful when
you are fishing and prefer to follow a different pattern than the
Depth Contour Tracking. Select
between:

Continuous turn with adjustable turn rate

Square with adjustable length on the legs

Lazy S with adjustable time between each turn
Advanced Wind Steering - AWS
A new
exciting mode for sailboat steering, which adds efficiency and fun
whether you are cruising or racing. Steer to compass when you are
sailing, or to wind or even to wind and GPS at the same time.
Steer to apparent or true wind and let the autopilot set the
heading for the best velocity made good while you pay attention to
the sails. When tacking towards a waypoint the autopilot display
presents useful information like distance to next tack, estimated
time to tack, distance to waypoint and velocity made good to wind
and to waypoint.
Virtual Rudder Feedback VRF™
Forget the
rudder feedback unit on boats powered with outboard engines!
Simrad has developed entirely new software algorithms that
incorporate a virtual rudder feedback VRF™. Hence the rudder
feedback unit is made redundant. Powered by single, dual or triple
outboards or by stern drives, the Simrad autopilot with VRF™ will
steer boats up to 40ft. With the new software the autopilot is
automatically configured for VRF™ when it senses that no feedback
unit has been installed. As a bonus you save installation and
maintenance costs.
